The congregation of the Franciscan sisters of our Lady of Bon secours was found by Fr.Julian Charles Lehodey (1808-1867) of ‘the Pairs Foreign Mission in the year 1858. Following the great example of St.Francis of Assisi, the sisters of the congregation have as their general aim to grow in the likeness of Christ, by sharing in the three fold mission of the Church.
• To bear witness
• To establish fraternity
• To render true, loving service
The name of the Congregation explains its aims to be (the others) “Marys” for those who seek and need refuge, to offer help, (secours) for helpless, the abandoned, the outcasts, especially in the women society.
To St.Theresa of Avila
O Saint Teresa, seraphic virgin, beloved spouse of your crucified Lord, you who on earth did burn with a love so intense toward your. God and my God, and now does glow with a brighter and purer flame in paradise; obtain for me also, I beseech you, a spark of that same holy fire which shall cause me to forget the world, all things created and even myself for you does ever avidly desire to see Him loved by all men. Grant that my every thought and desire and affection may be continually directed to doing the will of God the supreme Good whether I am in joy or in pain, for He is worthy to be loved and obeyed forever. Obtain for me this grace, you who are so powerful with God; may I be all on fire, like you, with the holy love of God. Amen.
